Overview

The Honors Residential College at Hume Hall is built on the former site of Hume Hall, which opened in 1958 and was razed in the Fall of 2000. Designed as a residentially-based academic community, UF's newest facility integrates the housing needs of Honors residents with facilities, staff, and programs in support of the Honors Program.

About Hume Hall

The complex includes two residential buildings housing 608 residents and a commons building.

Other features include the following:

  • The Office of the UF Honors Program
  • Faculty member living on site

  • A multimedia classroom for Honors classes and group study
  • On-site academic advising
  • Small-group study space
  • Recreation room
  • Student Honors Organization (SHO) Office

A Residential College Advisor (RCA) and 33 students live in a section or “house” within the two residential buildings. There are 18 houses total, and within each are 18 suite-style rooms with baths surrounding a common lounge and snack kitchen, which overlooks the conservation area east of Lake Alice.
