Additional Info
WHY WOULD A STUDENT GET ASSIGNED TO A LATE APPLICATION TRIPLE?
You (or your roommate) had a very late housing application date compared to other incoming students or you preferenced/signed up for one of these rooms.
How are late application triple rooms furnished?
As noted above, Late Application Triple rooms are furnished with
- 2 bunked beds and a loft bed
- 3 dressers
- 3 desks with chairs
- 2 closets
Roommates need to share space and furnishings fairly. Division of space and furnishings needs to be discussed and agreed upon by roommates during the first week of the semester.
When late application triples are detripled, the furniture will not be removed. DO NOT place any furniture in the hallway.
Will our room remain as a late application triple for both fall and spring?
It may. Please read on to learn about how the priority room transfer process works for late application triple rooms!
Students in late application triple rooms must add themselves to the room transfer list and are given priority for room transfers. Students are offered spaces as they become available. The later a student waits to request a room transfer, the longer he or she will remain in a late application triple.
Room transfers begin at the end of the first week of Fall Semester classes to vacant spaces created by cancellations that occur on/after move in day.
How is rent impacted when one student moves out of a late application triple?
Effective the date when one of the residents moves out, the students that remain in the room will have their rent prorated at the double room rate for the remainder of the contract. The student that moves will have their rent prorated based on the rental rate for the room to which they move for the remainder of their contract.
Who moves out of a late application triple?
At the beginning of the Fall Semester, the three roommates should discuss which two roommates want to stay together. This discussion should be based on compatibility and relationships between roommates among other considerations. If the three roommates cannot mutually decide among themselves who is to move, Housing staff will not force a room move. Only students that request a room transfer will be offered a room change.
In late application triples, the roommate who moves has 3 calendar days in which to complete the move. If he/she does not move within this time frame, please let your Resident Assistant (RA) know. DO NOT move anyone’s belongings out of the room without permission. Be considerate and seek help from your RA if there are any problems.
Can we stay together in our late application triple?
Yes, if all 3 roommates agree to this. When deciding to stay in a late application triple, all the pros and cons should be weighed equally in order to arrive at some type of consensus. It is critical that each roommate have input into this decision so that it will be an equitable one for all parties involved. If no room transfer request is made, there will be no need to move.
