Graham History
Graham Hall was dedicated to the memory of Klein Harrison Graham, UF Business Manager, Treasurer of the University Athletic Association, and chair of the Florida Endowment Corporation. At the time Graham Hall was dedicated, Graham had the longest service record of any UF staff member, forty-two years. Together with Simpson, Trusler, East, Rawlings, and Jennings Halls, Graham Hall was dedicated November 3, 1962.
Graham Hall is part of the Graham/Hume Residence Area which features a large brick barbecue pit, swimming pool, dining area, and a pond retreat.
Career Exploration Community: Two floors in Graham Hall — one male and one female — have a programmatic focus to help exploratory (or undecided) students who need assistance with the major and career decision-making process. Staff from the UF Career Resource Center and the Department of Housing and Residence Education are instrumental in helping residents explore their personality traits, interests, passions, skills, abilities, academic fields of study, and potential careers. Sections of SLS 2301: Career and Lifestyle Planning are taught on site for residents of the Career Exploration Community.
Resident Assistants and Staff
A welcome letter from the Residence Life Coordinator
Resident Assistants (RAs)
RAs are students who work with the Housing department to plan programs, handle administrative details, act as resource people, organize social and educational activities, and perform countless other visible and behind-the-scenes tasks. Each RA is responsible for approx. 47 residents and he/she lives on the floor. They work closely with their supervisor (GHD) and the staff in the building to provide the ultimate living & learning experience. They are one of the prime reasons the on-campus living environment is healthy and vibrant.

Graduate Hall Directors (GHD):
Catie Solan, Graham Hall Director — 392-6021
Cameo Humes, Simpson Hall Director – 392-6021
Danni Hirsch, Trusler Hall Director – 392-6021
Graduate Hall Directors are pre-professionals who directly supervise the RAs. The Graham, Simpson, and Trusler Hall Directors have offices on the first floor of the Graham Area Office, next to the Oasis. GHDs are graduate students with a wide variety of residence life and student affairs experiences. They do some personal, academic and disciplinary counseling as well as serve as a resource for students. They are trained to handle and direct crisis response within the halls. The Simpson Hall Director also advises the Graham Area Council, while the Graham Hall Director focuses extra attention on the Career Exploratory Community and the Trusler Hall Director aids in the administration of the Leader Scholar Program.
Graham Area Administrative Staff
Keys Leadership Team
Services Available at the Graham Area Commons Desk
Graham Area Office —The Graham Area Office is located at the bottom of Graham Hall, under the breezeway. Three full-time university employees staff this office. It is their job to make sure all of the administrative processes (room assignments, room transfers, check-in, check-out, cancellations) run smoothly. They can be of assistance if you run into administrative problems.
Keys — A resident may check out the lockout key for their room from the Graham Area Desk but must return it within 30 minutes. If the key is not returned within the 30-minute period, you will be charged for a lock change. Please note that residents who abuse the lockout key policy are subject to disciplinary action. There will be a Lock-out charge for anyone who has to check out keys more than four times a semester.
Room Condition Forms — This form is an inventory and record of the condition of your room at the time you moved in. It is very important that you review and complete this form in detail and return it to your RA. This information is used to assess damage charges when you check out and it is in your best interest to be sure that the form really reflects the current condition of your room. If different, you have 24 hours to let your RA know.
Room Switches/Transfers —Under NO circumstances may students change rooms without prior approval from the Area Office. In most cases a room switch is possible but failing to follow proper procedure will result in disciplinary action.
Bulletin Boards —As you walk through the Area each day, take a look at the large bulletin boards placed throughout the buildings. Some of these boards are labeled “Administrative Notice Only” and are only for use by Housing Staff. Other boards are “Public Notice” boards and may be used by anyone. However, Housing is responsible for the upkeep of the “Public Notice” boards and may remove all items on them periodically if they become unsightly or if the material is out-of-date. ADDITIONALLY, PUBLIC NOTICES NOT ATTACHED TO THE BULLETIN BOARDS WILL BE REMOVED. Repeat offenders are subject to disciplinary action.
Graham Area Study Lounge & Classrooms — The Graham Gallery/Study Lounge is located in the commons building, Graham hall, 2nd floor. It is a quiet and convenient place for your studying needs. At certain times this space may be used for meetings (to be posted). However, the study lounge itself is open 24 hours- your slide card will provide you with access to the Graham lobby, where the stairs leading to the 2nd floor are.
Televisions & Study Lounges — Each floor is equipped with a color television in the lounge. This TV may be used 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but please be considerate of others who want to study in the lounge or who may be sleeping in a nearby room. Please be courteous and remember the noise policy.
Cable TV — Regular TV cables will work in your room outlet. Please review the list of campus channels provided with your check-in packet.
Change Machine — There is a change machine located in the Graham Area commons by the office.
Vending Refunds — These are available at the Graham Desk between 8:00 am and 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. You must see the clerk on duty during the day for this service. In the event that you “lose” money in a machine during a different time period, come down to the desk when the clerk is on duty. Be sure to remember which machine was involved and any other important information such as the code or serial number on the machine.
Ice Machine — There is one located on the ground floor of Trusler Hall, across the street. Your swipe card will give you access.
Laundry Room — There is one located in the ground floor of each Graham Area hall. Both washers and dryers cost $1.25.
Bicycle Parking — Park and lock your bicycles to the bike racks in the designated areas. There will be no chaining bikes to handrails or to any object other than the bike racks. DO NOT leave bikes in the breezeway. If bikes are locked to anything other than bike racks they will be confiscated.
RA on-call — There is a RA on-call every Monday through Friday 8:00pm to 8:00am, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. If you need a RA and cannot locate one, call or visit the Graham Office at 392-6021 to inquire about seeking the assistance of the RA on-call.
Housing Security — If you need security assistance or simply want to report something suspicious, you may call Housing Security at 392-2495. There is a trained student with a two-way radio that patrols the Graham Area and assists with the safety and security of the residents at night. This service is available from 10:00pm to 4:00am and has a link with the RA on-call in an effort to spot any problem situations such as propped doors or suspicious individuals.
