Murphree Hall is part of the Murphree Area
Murphree Hall is dedicated to the memory of Albert A. Murphree (1870 - 1927), second president of the University of Florida and was constructed along with Fletcher Hall for $460,000. In 1989, Fletcher, Sledd and Murphree Halls were added to the National Register of Historic Places as part of a six-block area of the original campus — including Buckman and Thomas Halls. Major renovations to Murphree Hall were completed in 2005.
Murphree Hall is part of the Murphree Residence Area in the immediate vicinity of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field, the O'Connell Center, the Advising Center, and the Florida Gym. A dining center is also nearby.
Designed to address the specific needs and interested of second-year students at the University of Florida.
