Dear Resident,

I am posting the weekly update for the Building 288 Renovation project. The contractors will mainly focus on the following for the next two weeks:

Plumbing on the 1^st floor
Electrical on 1^st floor breezeways
Finalizing the roof replacement
Making progress on the window installation

Important: It is very important that residents do not move, remove the fence around building 288. Residents are not allowed to enter the construction site under any circumstances.

I wanted to inform everyone that we have selected the next building to be renovated. It will be Building 282. We have already communicated with 282 residents about the relocation process. At this point, we do not know what will be the next building to be renovated after Building 282.

Summer Rent/Deferments

Summer A rent was due April 17, 2013. Deferments were available to students with anticipated secured Summer A financial aid awards of $1,500 or more. Students with Summer A rent deferments need to pay Summer A rent by May 29, 2013, or when their Summer A aid is disbursed—whichever comes first. Note: Residents who did not pay or defer Summer A rent by April 17, 2013, were charged a $100 late charge.

Summer B rent is due May 29, 2013. Deferments are available to students with anticipated secured Summer B financial aid awards of $1,500 or more. Students with Summer B rent deferments need to pay Summer B rent by July 17, 2013, or when their Summer B aid is disbursed —whichever comes first. Summer Assignments/Check-in/Classes Begin

Summer A/C assignments were already provided to residents. Summer A/C Check-in begins May 9 at noon. Summer A/C residents with spring contracts were allowed to move from their spring to summer assignments on May 4. Summer A/C classes begin May 13.

Summer B assignments will be sent via email no later than the third week of May. Summer B Check-in will begin June 26 at noon. Summer B classes begin July 1.

Residence Halls Close August 10 at 4 p.m. for the Summer Terms

Storage:

As the end of the semester quickly approaches, we would like to remind you that the Department of Housing and Residence Education is not able to offer storage during intersessions. Intersession is the time between:

Spring to Fall
Summer A to Fall
Summer B to Fall
Fall to Spring (*if moving to a new residence hall)

In an effort to assist with your moving arrangements, we have compiled the attached list of local storage vendors. The University of Florida Department of Housing and Residence Education are not affiliated with these vendors in any way, but offer this list as a courtesy to our valued students. It is recommended that students be diligent in verifying that their possessions will be covered by their renter’s insurance while in storage.

Please make arrangements now to either take belongings home for the intersession or to utilize a storage company. All items left in rooms will be bagged and improper checkout charges and abandoned property charges will be applied. If the items are not retrieved by the given deadline, the items will be disposed of. The Department of Housing is not responsible for lost or damaged items.

2013 Summer Tour Rooms

Residence hall tour rooms are available 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. during Day 2 of Preview freshmen orientation from May 17 – July 25. The rooms are decorated by UF Bookstore staff with items available at the bookstore.

Fall Rent/Deferments

Fall Assignments/Check-in/Classes Begin

Students select rooms from April 2 to June 30. The room selection date is based on the students’ Housing application date. Late applicants may be assigned if housing space becomes limited. Students will be able to change rooms as much as they like during this time frame, unless they have been billed for their room or room selection closes. Check-in appointment information will be emailed during the summer for fall check-in. Fall classes begin August 21.
