To be eligible to live in Graduate/Family Housing, a student must ...

  • meet the requirements for admission to the University of Florida and qualify as a degree-seeking student as defined by his/her college during the term housing is required
  • make normal progress toward a degree as determined by the college
  • be married and/or have legal custody of a dependent child(ren) prior to being offered an assignment OR be a single graduate student

Unfortunately, due to very high, year-round demand for Graduate and Family Housing, we DO NOT make apartments available to post-docs, faculty, staff, or similar groups. This restriction does not apply to internal Dept. of Housing and Residence Education staff for whom a job-related need to have them live in campus housing has been identified.

After completing an application for admission to UF and receiving a UF Student ID number, you may complete the online application and pay the $25 nonrefundable application processing fee (via secure credit-card transaction). We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

The average wait-time for a one-bedroom apartment is 12 to 16 months. The average wait-time for a two-bedroom apartment is 6 to 9 months. Since these are average times, wait-times can be longer or shorter depending on a number of variables. We DO NOT accept requests for “priority” or “special consideration” to be given advance placement on the application list. We are very committed to giving preference in assignments to people who have been waiting the longest.

Once you are on our application list we periodically send out messages to you via E-mail about available apartments. We also make official offers to you over E-mail. It is important that you frequently monitor ANY E-mail address you have provided to the university. If you desire housing within a very near time frame, it would be wise to check your E-mail accounts daily.

Additional information about available apartments including timelines, seasonal demand, and rental rates can be found by reading our blog. This blog is updated often with new information about available apartments and other important subjects.

Depending on the specific type of apartment you wish to live in support documents including a copy of applicant's marriage certificate and/or children's birth certificates, passports, etc. must be provided at the time an official offer of campus housing is made.

Single parents must provide a copy of legal documents (adoption papers, divorce decrees, etc.) showing full custody of minor dependent children at the time an offer of campus housing is made.

Maguire Village applicants must also include a statement of income eligibility which will be explained if official offers to this village are made.
