SUBJECT: UF Housing – Room Signup for Fall 2008/Spring 2009

Dear [StudentName],

Beginning December 5, 2007, the Department of Housing and Residence Education will begin its process for students that are interested in living in campus housing for the Fall 2008/Spring 2009 academic year.

In short, the process runs as follows:

Housing Lottery (December 5, 2007 through January 16, 2008) – Interested students must enter the lottery by January 16, 2008 at 3:30pm so that they can be included in the drawing for campus housing space for Fall 2008/Spring 2009.

Lottery Drawing (January 23, 2008 at noon) – Housing staff hold the lottery drawing to select students that will be able to live in campus housing for Fall 2008/Spring 2009 and will be able to participate in Room Sign-Up (#3 below). Students not selected will be placed on a waiting list and may or may not be offered space before Fall 2008 Semester hall opening.

Room Sign-Up (February 4-15, 2008) – Students selected in the lottery select their room for Fall 2008/Spring 2009.

Participation in the Housing Lottery or Room Sign-Up does not affect a student’s ability to live in campus housing for Summer 2008. Information regarding Summer 2008 campus housing will be emailed to residents in early March 2008.

Students are strongly encouraged to discuss this information with family or others that assist them in their in educational planning.
