To Residents & Parents
The University of Florida has a Natural Disaster Plan for the campus and staff is trained in initiating ALL phases of the plan. (See link to the plan below.) Plans include providing shelter, food, and water for students, staff, the families of staff, and possibly evacuees from coastal or flood areas in designated campus shelters. On campus residence facilities are designated shelters for campus residents; other campus facilities may be designated shelters for off campus students, UF staff, and the family of UF staff, if needed.
UF staff routinely monitors tropical weather systems. Any official UF announcements related to classes, business activities, and scheduled activities will be posted on the UF website and released to local media. The UF Rumor Control line is 1-866-UF-FACTS. Housing staff will distribute hurricane information flyers when a situation warrants this action.
Please refer to the UF Environmental Health and Safety web site for UF hurricane preparedness information. The UF plan is called “UF Natural Disaster Annex ” and is linked from this site: http://www.ehs.ufl.edu/disasterplan/default.asp
