Parenting a college student is challenging! Finding the right balance of support and encouragement is key to success. The Housing staff partners with parents to support students in the transition to independence and adulthood.
Included in this online newsletter is information for summer residents and for those planning ahead for the fall semester. Students will receive this information in various formats throughout the summer. Please use this information to encourage your student to take action on his/her own behalf and to become more actively involved in the campus community.

Summer A rent was due May 01, 2008. Deferments were available to students with anticipated secured Summer A financial aid awards of $1,200 or more. Students with Summer A rent deferments need to pay Summer A rent by May 28, 2008, or when their Summer A aid is disbursed—whichever comes first. Note: Residents who did not pay or defer Summer A rent by May 01, 2008, were charged a $50 late charge.
Summer B rent is due June 6, 2008. Deferments are available to students with anticipated secured Summer B financial aid awards of $1,200 or more. Students with Summer B rent deferments need to pay Summer B rent by July 16, 2008, or when their Summer B aid is disbursed —whichever comes first. Residents who do not pay or defer Summer B rent by June 6, 2008, will be charged a $50 late charge. Note: Scholarship checks cannot be accepted. Summer A/C assignments were already provided to residents. Summer A/C Check-in begins May 8 at noon. Summer A/C residents with spring contracts were allowed to move from their spring to summer assignments on May 3. Summer A/C classes begin May 12.
Summer B assignments will be sent via email on or before the third week of May. Summer B Check-in will begin June 25 at noon. Summer B classes begin June 30.
Limited storage between summer and fall in the closet of fall assignments may be available for summer residents with fall contracts. Students may inquire about this storage at their fall assignment Area Office.
Residence hall tour rooms are available open 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. during Day 2 of Preview freshmen orientation from May 14 – July 18. The rooms are decorated by UF Bookstore staff with items available at the bookstore.
May 26 is the Memorial Day Holiday.
July 4 is the Independence Day Holiday.
