Resident TV is owned and operated by the Department of Housing and Residence Education and transmits (not broadcast over the air) over a closed-cable television system to the residence hall population — an audience of over 7,500 potential viewers. Comprising the sources transmitted over Resident TV are five VCRs, one radio tuner, a Digital Movie server, and one desktop computer running Microsoft PowerPoint.

Movies

The Inter-Residence Hall Association (IRHA) supports the IRHA Box Office program on Resident TV. Current-release movies are shown on a monthly schedule via a licensing agreement with SWANK. Movie requests and input are submitted by email and phone to Resident TV staff. They are forwarded to and evaluated by IRHA's Movie Chair when deciding which movies to play for a given month.

Slideshow Message Board

Resident TV operates a message board in the form of a looped Microsoft PowerPoint slideshow. The slideshow is for all registered UF student organizations and University Departments, Colleges and units and local not-for-profit ventures to publicize upcoming events.

Publicity requests may be submitted by filling out the publicity request form and submitting it by email, phone, or in person to the Resident TV office in the main Housing office.

You may also submit your own PowerPoint slide by email. ResTV reserves the right to edit messages for viewing on TV.

Submissions should be made at least 4 business days prior to the requested start date. Include organization name, start and stop dates for slide and event, message and/or event details, color preferences, images, and contact information for the slide and the event. Resident TV reserves the right to reject messages based on established guidelines and policies.

Additional content is determined by the Cable Advisory Board and Housing administrative staff. Resident TV does not transmit commercial advertising.
