Resident Assistant

The Resident Assistant (RA) position is vital to the on campus living experience. This position builds community, fosters relationships, and provides opportunities to learn and connect with residents and the vibrant UF community. Students in this position can expect to improve leadership skills, gain valuable mentorship experience, build connections and develop transferrable skills that would complement future career aspirations.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance and maintain a sense of shared community in the designated residential area by facilitating intentional interactions, social activities, and other opportunities for residents to interact with each other
  • Assist residents in the assigned residential area acting as a referral agent to available resources, services, and facilities on campus
  • Foster a culture of continuous care by serving in an on-call role and supporting our students through effective emergency management procedures
  • Know and implement Housing & Residence Life crisis protocol within assigned area
  • Assist in conflict resolution among residents by educating residents about housing policies and the mediation process
  • Serve as a model of responsible behavior to assist residents in the transition to UF and throughout the collegiate experience
  • Create a residential environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages residents to utilize departmental and campus resources

Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    • This position is required to live in on-campus in a residence hall
    • Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing as defined by the University at the time of employment which includes a successful conduct/honor code review
    • Maintain a 2.5 cumulative and semester GPA the semester prior to employment
    • Be available for 20-hours per week

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Committed to facilitating interaction among members of the university community
    • At least one semester experience (online or in-person) at the University of Florida
    • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, manage time, and lead others
    • Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and timeliness
    • Ability to work well within a team and with individuals
